The steels are going up

It was with great excitement that Dr Jim Ropner from Berkeley Place Surgery, Dr Sanjay Shyamapant from Prestbury Park Medical and Dr Phil Kurlbaum from Royal Crescent Surgery were able to attend the site to see the first steels going up.  This has been and will continue to be a long journey for all of us, but after several years of talking and planning, it was a pleasure for all concerned to attend site and see the massive steel structure starting to take shape.

We have been helped along our way by many professionals.  The team at West Hart Architects have helped bring the vision for the building to life.  The GP practices knew what they wanted to achieve for patients and for staff, but needed the skills, expertise and attention to detail that can only come from many years of professional experience.  Luckily, West Hart Architects were on hand with over 20 years experience specialising in healthcare buliding design and have established an individual approach which results in functional, flexible, and sustainable medical buildings.  They were keen to understand the unique needs of our three GP practices and have come up with a design that we know will serve the community of patients in Cheltenham for generations to come.

Bowmer and Kirkland are responsible for the building construction and have worked closely with all three GP surgeries and the architects.  They work across many sectors including healthcare and have constructed 200,000 sq ft of healthcare buildings in the last 5 years.

The three GP leads will have monthly site visits to monitor progress with the building expected to take about a year to be completed.
